Resources for Volunteer Attorneys
Depending on the pro bono program, there can be a variety of resources available to volunteer attorneys. The following is a list of resources to which you may have access as a pro bono lawyer in Ohio:
- free volunteer training
- screening, administrative, and technical functions may be performed by program staff
- free malpractice coverage for pro bono cases accepted through the program
- full billable credit for hours spent on pro bono work
- mentors who are experienced in dealing with poverty law issues
- preferential court docketing for pro bono cases
- document assembly software
- reference materials
- legal research as needed
- interpreters as needed
- the program may be able to financially assist or take the case back if the matter becomes more complex than anticipated
- reimbursement for certain litigation costs
- free use of office space, phones, and computers
- free photocopying service
- help sessions for clients to ensure proper preparation
- free or discounted CLE classes
- networking opportunities
